Tattooed Librarians

Tattooed Librarians and other Library Employees

Do your colleagues know about your tat(s)?

Or are they all in hidden, secret places that no one can see (or that you only let a VERY few see, or even just one)? Why have you hidden them if you have?

My colleagues know about my tats...I don't make any effort to hide them. Of course, the one on my back is usually covered, but only because of it's location. Despite working at a state school in the religiously and politically conservative deep south, it hasn't been a problem.

Yes, they seem fine with it. I'm the director of the library. Staff who are younger have tats.....I think I'm the only over forty staff member with ink.

I'm 53, a female and have a fairly visible tattoo which I don't show off and don't hide either. I've been in my library for 22 years, in a small community in Eastern California. No one has ever made a negative comment in all that time.

My colleagues do know about them, and my boss' boss LOVES them. I don't try to hide them, but I don't show them off either. I do cover the one on my leg when I am doing children's programs where I sit in front of children. It just seems like it could be more of a distraction then anything. So when I'm doing these sitting children's programs, I don't wear dresses (which I never wear anyway) or cropped pants. Just regular pants.
